Planning for Growth

Since 2018, the CMRB has been working to identify key social, environmental and economic needs of the region and develop collaborative regional planning practices. We’ve overseen the development and implementation of the region’s Growth & Servicing Plan and Regional Evaluation Framework (REF). The Growth and Servicing Plan took effect August 15, 2022.

Thriving communities require more than homes for people to live in. They require viable employment opportunities, a sustainable economy, accessible transportation routes and transit options, and a healthy environment with healthy natural systems.

The Calgary Metropolitan Region Board (CMRB) is committed to supporting the long-term social, environmental and economic wellbeing of the Calgary Metropolitan Region by facilitating collaborative regional planning practices, optimizing shared services and land use, and fostering sustainable growth.

Upcoming Meetings & Events

Board meetings are generally held once a month. Board Committees also regularly meet to help the CMRB more effectively advance the interests of the Region.

Each Committee has a specific mandate to support the operations and goals of the CMRB and is charged with making recommendations to be brought before the Board.
